Ever accidentally erase something you meant to save? It's one of the worst feelings in the world, right? A kind of pit in your stomach disbelief that you just wasted the last hour or so worth of work and have to start all over again.
You know what's worse? Doing the same thing to someone else! Yikes.
Sadly, that kind of accident was possible in our old system. If two people happened to be working on the same page at once, they could unknowingly save over each others progress and end up in a frustrating tug-of-war. Thankfully, those days are over for LifeWEB users, our new content locking system will make sure that situation never happens again.
Now, when one editor enters a page and starts making changes, a lock will appear on the navigation screen that will prevent another user from entering it simultaneously. No more bumping heads together!
The lock will remain until the user exists that page's editor, or is inactive for over five minutes. At that point saving changes on the page will be disabled. If you accidentally leave a page, come back later, and still want to make the changes you set-up, all you need to do is copy what is in the editor, reload the page, and paste it back in.
Users who have opened multiple editor pages (maybe to check between several pages at once) can easily open the pages up for other editors by hitting the "Release All Locks” button at the top of the navigation screen.
Never again will the left hand write over the right hand's work! Just part of making LifeWEB the most user-friendly CMS we can!
